Wales No 8 Taulupe Faletau believes they can still win the Six Nations despite losing their opening game to England.

Stuart Lancaster’s injury-hit side ran out 21-16 winners at the Millennium Stadium on Friday night, a result that left the Welsh having to catch up with their title rivals.

Next up for Warren Gatland’s side is an intriguing game with a resurgent Scotland team at Murrayfield on February 15.

Despite their early setback, Faletau is convinced they can reclaim they crown they last won in 2013, when Wales lost their opening fixture at home to Ireland only to bounce back with four successive wins, culminating in a record-breaking 30-3 victory over England.

We just have to take each game as it comes, as we have before in this tournament after we've lost the first game and come back to lift the trophy.

"The boys were disappointed, but we will stick together and bounce back for Scotland," said Faletau.

"There is still a chance for us to win the tournament. We just need to do the hard work. We just have to take each game as it comes, as we have before in this tournament after we've lost the first game and come back to lift the trophy.

"It didn't go our way this time, but that's happened before and we've managed to crawl back. That is what we will be looking to do again this year.

"We just have to stick at what we are doing and fix a few things, then hopefully we will start to go in the right direction again."

Faletau was keen to praise England for the way they played in Cardiff under floodlights, with Wales failing to live with Lancaster’s side after the break.

"England started the second half well, kept it going and took the game away from us," added Faletau.

"They made life difficult for us, and we struggled to pull them back in. When we had the ball we just couldn't get our game going, and that's credit to England for the way they defended."
