Guinness PRO12: Zebre collect morale-boosting win over Edinburgh

Second-half tries from Giulio Bisegni and Michele Visentin saw Guinness PRO12 strugglers Zebre chalk up a morale-boosting 18-10 victory over Edinburgh.

The Scottish side were without the injured Grant Gilchrist, Hamish Watson and Cornell du Preez and found the absences too much to overcome in Italy as they slipped to defeat at the Stadio XXV Aprile.

Fly-half Kelly Haimona's 10th-minute penalty gave the hosts the lead - it struck the frame of the goal before dropping the right side of the posts from a Zebre point of view.

After Tom Heathcote failed with his penalty attempt, Edinburgh were on the board just two minutes before the turnaround when Roddy Grant crossed - Heathcote converting for a 7-3 interval advantage.

Heathcote's first successful penalty extended the advantage to 10-3, but Zebre responded with a three-pointer of their own from Haimona, then Bisegni scored under the posts with the fly-half adding the conversion.

Zebre's only previous win against Scottish opposition was in this fixture last season and a repeat was ensured when replacement centre Visentin bundled over in the corner.
