Bristol head coach Liam Middleton has moved to sign Scottish lock George Biagi from Italian side Aironi.
Biagi, who grew up in Scotland before moving to Italy to attend university, made 25 appearances for the RaboDirect PRO12 outfit - although he was largely used as back-up to Quintin Geldenhuys and Marco Bortolami.
However Biagi, who previously had spells at Grande Milano, Cavalieri Prato and Parma, is relishing the chance to impress at Bristol.
The 26-year-old told the club's official site: "I'm delighted to be joining Bristol Rugby, Liam showed me around the club and I was impressed with the performance structures in place.
"That helped me to make up my mind, I believe I can contribute to Bristol's ambitions and I believe that the environment at the club is the best place for me to be to achieve my rugby ambitions."
