France fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc is facing a lengthy lay-off after breaking his right leg during his club Montpellier's 25-9 Top 14 victory over Oyonnax on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was hurt when he was tackled by Argentinian fly-half Benjamin Urdipilleta in the 24th minute of the match.

"He will be operated on this evening (Saturday)," said Montpellier physiotherapist Bruno Boussagol.

"He will be off games for around three months."

Trinh-Duc has made 49 appearances for France but was not selected for the unsuccessful tour of Australia in June.

However, he was in line for a recall for the November Tests after being included in the squad for a recent three-day training camp.

There was also an injury scare for Clermont scrum-half Morgan Parra, who had been left out of the three-day France get together in September, as he went off just after the half hour mark in the 30-10 victory over La Rochelle.

France head coach Philippe Saint-Andre desperately needs a good set of results in November after a miserable Six Nations and summer.

He will name his squad on October 19 for the matches with Fiji, Australia and Argentina.
