Reports say scrum-half has signed one-year deal with relegated club

British and Irish Lions scrum-half Mike Blair has signed with relegated French club Brive, according to various reports in the French press. The Edinburgh and Scotland scrum-half was long believed to be heading to Perpignan. But reports suggest that negotiations broke down over Blair's salary, with USAP believed to be focusing on rebuilding their pack after a tough season. Sources close to Brive have indicated that the 80-cap international is arriving at a very reasonable price considering his wealth of experience as the 1997 Heineken Cup champions look to win promotion back into the Top 14 next season. The 31-year-old, who is currently with the Scotland squad in Australia, announced his departure from Edinburgh in April and is understood to have inked a one-year deal. Brive are also believed to be close to signing Fijian wings Ilekena Bolakoro (Biarritz) and Malakai Bakaniceva (Tarbes).
