Lions ratings

The British and Irish Lions continued their impressive start to their 10-match tour Down Under with a 69-17 victory over the Western Force.

15 Leigh Halfpenny

The Wales full-back picked up where he left off in the RBS Six Nations, with a simply faultless display. Halfpenny, the favourite for the Test team No 15 shirt, landed 11 shots at goal but was also impressive in attack and defence. 9

14 Tommy Bowe

The Irishman was a lively runner throughout and had a couple of scything breaks. He was rewarded for his efforts with try in the second half, with Bowe showing his power to bounce off one defender. 7

13 Brian O'Driscoll

Handed the captain's armband, O'Driscoll rose to the challenge with two well-taken tries. He read the game brilliantly to profit from North and Tuilagi's breaks and he put in a superb shift all-round. 8

12 Manu Tuilagi

Tuilagi has a big task in getting the nod ahead of Jamie Roberts in the Test team but he did his cause no harm at all. He ran hard and drew the defenders to him like moths to a flame, while he showed greater awareness with his passing. 7

11 George North

The Wales winger might not have got on the scoresheet, however his work-rate was immense. He constantly came off his wing looking for action, was tough to stop in full flow and his hard yards paid dividends for others. 7

10 Jonny Sexton

Without the added pressure of goalkicking, Sexton relaxed and was able to play his natural game. He was able to make the back division tick, with his passing opening up the Western Force defence. 8

9 Conor Murray

Following Mike Phillips' man-of-the-match display in Hong Kong, the pressure was on Murray and the Irishman did his best to rise the challenge. He overcame a stuttering start to come to the fore. 6

1 Cian Healy

The Ireland prop's game was cut short by a nasty looking ankle injury, which saw him stretchered off. By then Healy had had a couple of issues at the scrum while he was accused of biting Brett Sheehan. 5

2 Rory Best

A stuttering display from the Ireland hooker, who was a late addition to the tour following Dylan Hartley's ban. He struggled to find his man in the lineout while the Lions scrum was put under pressure. There was some good work in the loose, though. 5

3 Dan Cole

A quiet display from the England front-rower, who failed to have the same impact on the game as Adam Jones managed in Hong Kong. The one plus point for Cole, though, was his work-rate and willingness to get stuck in. 6

4 Alun-Wyn Jones

His sin-binning with 10 minutes left blotted his copy-book for what was otherwise a solid performance from Jones. He wasn't as flash as Richie Gray but he got stuck in and defended well while the Lions were under pressure . 6

5 Ian Evans

The Wales second row was quietly effective as he went about his work in Perth. Faces a fight to move up the pecking order for a Test place - with Paul O'Connell, Grey and Jones ahead of him - but he didn't put a foot wrong. 6

6 Tom Croft

The England flanker offers something different in the six shirt to rival Dan Lydiate. He thrives on the space out wide and loves to run with the ball in his hand. Deservedly picked up a try but was then an injury concern with concussion. 7

7 Sean O'Brien

A strong contender for the man-of-the-match award. O'Brien carried strongly, while his intelligent passing created the space for others to exploit. He was also a man-mountain in defence and it is now game on for the No 7 shirt. 8

8 Jamie Heaslip

Answered his critics from the RBS Six Nations in fine style, with Heaslip producing an eye-catching display. He ran the ball in hard and exploited the space brilliantly. He scored a try to answer the challenge thrown down by Toby Faletau. 8
