Jonathan Sexton will rejoin Leinster from Racing Metro next summer after agreeing a new contract with the Irish Rugby Football Union.
The out-half made 110 appearances for the Irish province between 2006 and 2013, scoring 1,015 points and winning three European Cups before moving to Racing Metro on a lucrative deal at the start of last season.
The 29-year-old was offered a new contract by the Top 14 side, with Toulon also reported to be interested, but he has instead opted to return home, signing a contract with the IRFU until November 2019.

IRFU chief executive Philip Browne added: "Jonathan is one the best out-halves in world rugby and the IRFU are delighted that he will be playing his rugby in Ireland.
“Irish rugby will benefit hugely from having a player of his calibre playing full-time in Ireland.”
Sexton played in all five games of Ireland's 2014 Six Nations Championship-winning campaign and started all three tests for the British and Irish Lions in their 2013 series victory over Australia.
He is currently sidelined after breaking his jaw playing for Racing Metro last week and is expected to be out of action for around eight weeks.
