Stephan Dippenaar is poised to make his South Africa Sevens debut in Wellington after being called up for this weekend's New Zealand leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Former Bulls centre Dippenaar missed the South Africa Sevens in December with an ankle injury, but he now replaces Chase Minnaar in Paul Treu's squad.

"He has been with us for a while now and is familiar with our structures and work ethic," said Treu.

"His versatility means he can slot into a few positions, which increases our tactical options."

South Africa will face England, Wales and the Cook Islands in Pool B in Wellington.
