Sharks trio sign new contracts

Philippe Saint Andre, Charlie Hodgson and Kingsley Jones have signed new deals with Sale.

Director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre, head coach Kingsley Jones and fly-half Charlie Hodgson have signed new deals with Sale Sharks.

The Guinness Premiership champions revealed at a lunchtime press conference on Tuesday that Saint Andre and Jones had agreed new contracts tying them to the club until 2010.

And in a further boost for the Edgeley Park club, England international Hodgson put pen to paper on a deal which runs until 2011.

Saint Andre joined the club in 2004 and his existing contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

"Stability is very important in a successful team," Saint Andre said.

"It was important that I pledged my future because we have another eight or nine players out of contract."

Hodgson, 25, ended speculation over his future and said: "It was an easy decision to sign a new contract.

"Sale gave me my opportunity in the first place and I'm a very loyal person. It was never really in my mind to leave the club."
