Scrum-half Micky Young will be back in Newcastle Falcons colours next season after agreeing a two-year deal with the club.

Young, who was born in nearby Hartlepool, left Kingston Park in the summer of 2011 to join the Leicester Tigers and he then moved on to Bath in 2013.

The 26-year-old represented England in the sevens game while with Newcastle and he was also a member of the Saxons squad for their final Churchill Cup campaign in 2011.

Young said: "I’m really excited by the opportunity to come back to Newcastle.

"It is a massive opportunity for me and from speaking to Dean (Richards) and a few of the guys who are still at the club from when I was there, the ambition of the club is awesome and I’m excited to be part of a set up out to do big things.”

"Everything about the club is positive, from the style of play to the investment in things like the new pitch and I just hope I can use some of the experience I’ve gained in the last four years to make a really positive contribution to the club’s future."

Director of rugby Richards added: “We’re delighted to have signed Micky and look forward to welcoming him back in the summer.

"He is very much an example of where we want to be with talented players from the area playing for the club and we are looking forward to seeing him develop in the side."
