Matt Garvey will leave London Irish for Premiership rivals Bath at the end of the season.

The England Saxons forward, who can play at flanker or in the back row, has agreed the move after successive impressive campaigns with the Exiles.

He told the Bath website: "Bath is a great club and an incredible set up. I know that the environment there is a tough one, but I am sure it is also one that will make all of us better players.

"I look forward to joining the squad, and to testing myself amongst the players there and fighting for a place in the team."

Garvey leaves London Irish having scored four tries in 82 appearances, and he said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and I owe them a great deal.

"I would also like to thank the supporters, who I have got to know really well over the years, and thank them for everything they have done for me. I will continue to give my all for the team until the end of the season."

Bath head coach Gary Gold said: "Matt is an excellent player and one we are extremely happy to have secured.

"He is a big unit and can do the rough stuff, but he can also offer a real threat in attack. We look forward to welcoming him to Bath."
