Gethin Jenkins says he is happy to fill Wales' troublesome number three jersey in Sunday's Six Nations clash with Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.
The reigning champions are without Chris Hormann for the whole tournament and lost Adam Jones to a dead leg during the 47-13 defeat to England at Twickenham on Saturday.
Jenkins is more renowned as a loosehead prop, but after recovering from a shoulder operation he is pleased just to be playing and is set to make his first start since last season's Grand Slam-clinching victory over Ireland.
"I played there a bit on Saturday and I've played there one game this year for Cardiff, and the time before that was the British Lions' second game in the summer," said Jenkins.
"I'm ready to play there. I played there last year and I'm starting to get used to it.
"My performance levels aren't anywhere near where they were last year and I'm disappointed with that but I've only played five games since coming back from injury and I wouldn't say I'm fully back into it yet.
"When you get injured it's a tough time training on your own and then when you recover you are expected to get straight back into it.
"I've had a couple of tough weeks with Cardiff Blues when we didn't perform, and I'm just looking forward to putting in some performances in the Six Nations."
Jenkins admits that Wales were far from their best against England but insists the players are determined to put things right against the Scots, who opened with a shock win over France at Murrayfield.
"We are disappointed the way the result turned out against England and certain aspects of our performance weren't great," he said.
"But we want to turn it around this week and put a good performance in in front of the home crowd.
"There is big pressure on us this weekend. No-one wants to get off to a losing start but now we have a chance to go back to the Millennium Stadium and show some of the form that won us the Grand Slam last year."
