Tom Varndell has been called into England's 30-man squad to face Samoa.
Tom Varndell's excellent form for Leicester Tigers has been rewarded by a call-up to the England side.
The flying winger has scored six tries in seven Premiership matches this season; form that inspired his club boss Pat Howard to predict that an England call-up would not be too far away.
That forecast has now come true after Andy Robinson selected Varndell in his 30-man squad for the forthcoming clash with Samoa.
The Leicester man's inclusion is one of two changes, after fellow club colleagues Andy Goode and Ollie Smith were overlooked with James Simpson-Daniel returning to the fold.
The other members to be involved after being cut from the matchday 22 to face New Zealand are Tom Voyce, Perry Freshwater, Peter Richards, Andy Hazell, Simon Shaw and Jamie Forrester.
Robinson is likely to keep a largely settled side as England look to build on two encouraging displays, but Varndell could well be seen as a solution to the lack of creation in the back division.
"We are looking to make a difference in attack and we are looking for extra sharpness," said Robinson."There is no substitute for pace and we are bringing two guys in with tremendous pace and they will certainly add to the squad.
"Everybody is very disappointed we had the possession but weren't able to open up a very good New Zealand defence.
"It is about getting the balance right. I think the team have moved forward over the last two games and it is now we need to build on those last two performances."
