Nicky Smith has agreed a new four-year deal with Ospreys which will keep him at the club until 2019.

The 21-year old prop is a product of the region's development scheme and made his senior debut in January 2013.

Smith has made 26 appearances for the Welsh side, scoring two tries, and is part of Warren Gatland's extended training squad preparing for the Rugby World Cup in the autumn.

And he is thrilled to be continuing his development with the Ospreys.

Smith said: "To be honest, I couldn't have asked for any more in first full season as an Osprey, to play so many games, and to be involved all the way through to the semi-finals, followed by this new contract.

"I've still got a lot of hard work to do as I realise that I’ve not really achieved anything yet, I'm still very young and learning the game.

"If I can stay fit, keep working hard and improving, hopefully I’ll get more game time and be able to establish myself as an Osprey.

"This is a great place for youngsters to develop, there are quality players all around you when you are working every day."

Smith earned his first full international caps last November against Fiji and New Zealand.
