Namibia-born full-back Byron McGuigan has agreed a deal to extend his stay with the Exeter Chiefs for another year.
McGuigan, 25, was initially brought to Sandy Park in November as injury cover for compatriot Chrysander Botha, who was ruled out for much of the campaign after breaking his leg while away on international duty.
He quickly settled into life in England making 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring three tries in the process.
The Scotland A and Sevens international has also featured both on the wing and in the centre for the Devon club and his versatility is an asset Baxter is keen to utilise next season.
“Byron has some great qualities,” said Exeter head coach Rob Baxter.
“He is a great competitor who really enjoys being at the club. He has really bought into all the elements of our culture and work ethic and he is a great team-mate and has done well for us every time he has stepped on to a rugby field.
“Sometimes we have put him in some pretty difficult situations. He came to us relatively late and has had to learn a lot quite quickly, but I think he has done really well. All of the qualities he has shown mean we want him to stay around for a bit longer.”
