France centre Gael Fickou faces a fitness race ahead of the World Cup having picked up a knee ligament injury.
The 21-year-old - outstanding against England last weekend - damaged the interior cruicate ligament in his left knee when playing for Toulouse in their 34-24 victory over Toulon on Saturday.
Toulouse general manager Guy Noves said: "He underwent scans this morning (Sunday) which revealed that he had a damaged interior cruciate ligament but it will not require an operation.
"It is a hard blow for the club who are already without (Alexis) Palisson (knee) and (Clement) Poitrenaud (ankle) until the end of the season."
France head coach Philippe Saint-Andre names his initial 36-man squad on May 19.
Having endured another miserable Six Nations campaign in which they managed just two victories, Les Bleus will be hoping to upset the odds and gather some momentum by beating England in a pair of warm-up games in August.
