Billy Twelvetrees has been called into the England side for the final QBE International against Australia on Saturday.

Twelvetrees replaces Owen Farrell at centre as coach Stuart Lancaster has opted to give George Ford another start in the No 10 shirt against the Wallabies at Twickenham.

Farrell drops to the bench with the other two changes coming in the pack as flanker Tom Wood replaces James Haskell and Dylan Hartley comes in for Rob Webber at hooker.

Lancaster said: "It’s good to be able to give Billy his first start of the series.

"He took on board the feedback we gave him when he first came into camp and he has worked hard both with us and at Gloucester and deserves his chance. Owen is a key part of our squad and I am sure he will make a positive contribution should he get the chance.

"The Samoa game gave us the opportunity to give James Haskell and Rob Webber a start and they made a good contribution.

"Tom and Dylan were disappointed not to be in the XV last week and they are desperate to go out and perform on Saturday so we finish the series on a high."

Farrell has been dropped from the starting line-up for the first time since June 2012 but Lancaster is confident the Saracens man will soon be back to his best.

"Owen will play a different role off the bench this week, at 10 or 12," said the head coach. "We know we can use him in both positions.

"He accepted it well, he's a great professional and he's very team focussed. He accepted that George (Ford) had played well and that he's not on top form.

"He will contribute from the bench and then go away and work hard with Saracens. I'm sure he will be back."
