The Championship XV fought back from 18-7 down at half-time to defeat Canada 28-23 at Sixways in Worcester.
Canada took a 5-0 lead in the fourth minute when Kyle Gilmour touched down, but the Championship select team went ahead three minutes later as Mark Bright of London Scottish charged over with Plymouth's Lawrence Rayner adding the conversion.
James Pritchard’s penalty quickly put the Canadians back in front and he extended the tourists’ advantage with another penalty before Gordon McRorie added a try from Nick Blevins’ offload, with Pritchard landing the conversion this time.
The Championship XV started the second half strongly with a try two minutes following the restart through Bristol full-back Jack Tovey after a flowing move, with Rayner once again converting.
Canada found themselves down to 14 men when hooker Ray Barkwill saw yellow in the 46th minute and the hosts took advantage to move 21-18 ahead thanks to a try from man-of-the-match Marco Mama of Bristol and Rayner’s two-pointer.
McRorie scampered over for his second try of the game as the pendulum swung back in Canada’s favour, although Pritchard’s conversion attempt was blocked in front of the posts by Michael Keating.
Play then went back and forth until the Championship side scored the decisive try with 10 minutes remaining when London Scottish’s James Phillips bundled his way over, with his fellow replacement Kieran Hallett adding the extras.
