Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend paid tribute to a fantastic team performance after the Warriors defeated Bath 37-10 in the European Rugby Champions Cup.
The Scottish side ran in five tries in the bonus-point win, Mark Bennett grabbing a double while Sean Maitland, Tommy Seymour and Niko Matawalu also crossed the whitewash.
Bath started strongly and even took an early lead as Jonathan Joseph went over for a try, but the hosts soon started to dominate their opponents at Scotstoun Stadium.
“We are delighted with the performance from the team, the intent we played with and our defence, having not conceded a try after the 11th minute,'' he said.
“It is the best team performance we have had this season.''
Townsend was particularly impressed with the way his charges weathered a period of second-half pressure from Bath before hitting back to increase their advantage.
Attack
He said: “There was a period in the middle of the second half where we kicked away possession, maybe subconsciously thinking that we could defend the lead, but after that we attacked again, which was great to see. It was a really good 80-minute performance.''
But he did warn that Glasgow would not rest on their laurels and that there were still areas of their performance that had to be tightened up ahead of next week’s Pool 4 clash with Montpellier.
“There were more opportunities that we could have taken, so we will look at those before next weekend,'' Townsend added.
Bath head coach Mike Ford was left disappointed with his team's efforts, although they were operating with a makeshift back row after a recent spate of injuries.
Ford said: “It was disappointing. It is a lesson learned in a tough European.
“We are disappointed with the tries that we let in and we let the game get away from us. We didn't finish off the breaks that we had and then they scored a couple of quick tries.
“When that happens, all of a sudden you are on the wrong end of a poor scoreline. We will learn from it though. We are a young side.''
