Richie McCaw: Ready to put the record straight on Saturday

Sky Bet

Richie McCaw admits that New Zealand's defeat by England last autumn has given Saturday's rematch at Twickenham an 'extra edge.'

Since August 2011, last year's loss in west London is the All Blacks' only reverse in 33 internationals and the Kiwis are out to put the record straight.

There are 13 survivors from that game in the current New Zealand squad amd McCaw said: "A few of us have got memories from last year so that has added a bit of edge.

"There is a completely different feel to this year. The guys are pretty excited and on edge. We were a little bit flat last year.

"We didn't adapt well in the game and our game has moved on well since then.

"Over the years I've seen you can use history as a bit of extra motivation.

"But once you get into the game it isn't going to be the thing that ensures you get the performance and gets you over the line.

"There is a question mark about what will happen on Saturday. That's why you play the game and we want to go out at Twickenham and perform.

"It is one of the toughest places to play at times. That adds the edge and that was the same last year."
