Toby Flood: hoping home advantage will prove decisive

England duo Toby Flood and Ben Youngs hope home advantage will give Leicester the edge in Saturday's Aviva Premiership semi-final with Harlequins.

The Tigers are expecting a bumper crowd at Welford Road where they will take on the defending champions for the right to play in the Grand Final at Twickenham against either Saracens or Northampton.

And Flood says the Leicester supporters have a crucial role to play.

"The advantage of a home crowd is imperative and they have to be right behind us," he told the Leicester Mercury.

"We don't want the crowd to sit and wait for something to happen before responding. We want them to make it as loud as possible.

"If they get behind us and give us that energy, it certainly has an impact on the pitch.

"Teams have always been wary of coming to Welford Road and, if we can start well, and the crowd can get right behind us, it will give us a huge impetus."

Harlequins have already beaten Leicester home and away this season, and scrum-half Youngs says the fans will want revenge as much as the players.

"It's a semi-final at Welford Road and I hope the crowd are loud and brilliant like they were against Toulouse," he said. "They play a huge part in what we do and we want them to make Leicester an intimidating place to come.

"We will draw confidence from being at home because we love it. It should be a cracking game."
