Leeds Carnegie centre Luther Burrell has become the latest signing by Sale's executive director Steve Diamond.

Centre previously played rugby league with Huddersfield Giants

Sale have raided Leeds for a second time to sign centre Luther Burrell. The 23-year-old follows the lead of current Carnegie team-mate Kearnan Myall in agreeing a deal to join the Sharks at the end of the season. Burrell has been a regular for Leeds in the Premiership for the past two seasons having previously played rugby league with hometown club Huddersfield Giants. Sale's executive director Steve Diamond, who has been busy overhauling the playing squad for the 2011/12 campaign, is delighted with his latest capture. "Luther is an excellent signing for us," he said. "He is a big powerful centre who can defend well and can also break holes in the opposition defence. "He was a stand-out player for Leeds when they played against us at Edgeley Park recently and I am sure he will fit in well with what we are trying to create at Sale Sharks." As well as Leeds duo Burrell and Myall, Diamond has also recruited Scottish duo Fraser McKenzie and Richie Vernon, as well as fellow forwards Tony Buckley, Mark Easter, Joe Ward and James Collins.
