Back-row forward faces no further punishment after red card

London Irish number eight George Stowers has escaped suspension after being sent-off in his side's clash with Bath on Saturday. The 31-year-old was shown the red card by referee Dave Pearson for a dangerous tackle on Nick Abendanon during the Exiles' 20-13 defeat to their Aviva Premiership rivals. Stowers appeared before Rugby Football Union disciplinary officer Judge Jeff Blackett at a hearing in Epsom on Tuesday after being charged by the governing body. However, Blackett decided that the red card was sufficient punishment and the Samoan is now free to carry on playing.
