Lock looking forward to testing himself in Magners League

Glasgow Warriors have completed the signing of Saracens second-rower Tom Ryder on a two-month loan deal. The powerful 6ft 5in lock has made 95 appearances for Saracens since to the Londoners from Leicester's youth set-up. The 25-year-old has played for England at several age levels, but qualifies to represent Scotland through his Glaswegian father. Ryder, who trained with his new team-mates on Thursday, said: "Glasgow had a great season last year so I'm delighted to get the opportunity to be part of a fantastic squad and train in world-class facilities. "There tends to be more rugby played in the Magners League - the teams are a lot more willing to play rugby which I think will suit my style of play where the players play in a less confined structure. "I pride myself on being a physical and ball-carrying lock and am looking forward to bringing my experience to Glasgow and helping them match and better their successes last season." Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen added: "He's a very mobile, modern-day lock and is incredibly hungry. You can see his ambition when you speak to him and I applaud his attitude. "(Saracens director of rugby) Brendan Venter was very accommodating - the situation works for both clubs. "They're very ambitious and Tom needs game time while we get a quality lock, desperate to force his way back into regular rugby. "At present this is a loan arrangement to bolster our squad as we seek to match and surpass our achievements last season, which will ask a lot of an already young squad."
