Bath fly-half returns to the South Africa squad

Bath fly-half Butch James will look to put the political wrangling between SARU and Premier Rugby behind him after being named in the Springboks squad to face France. James had been set to tackle Wales at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday - only for Bath withdraw the player because the game fell outside the IRB's international window. That led to a war of words between the SARU and Premier Rugby, who enforced the ruling. James, though, has been cleared to finally end his two-year absence from the international stage after being included in a 27-man squad to take on France at Newlands. Bryan Habana, Pierre Spies, Schalk Burger and Bakkies Botha also return for South Africa, while Bulls lock Flip van der Merwe has been handed his first call-up. However Frans Steyn or Joe van Niekerk have both been omitted after failing to impress on their international returns against Wales. South Africa: Bjorn Basson, BJ Botha, Bakkies Botha, Schalk Burger, Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers, Jannie du Plessis, Jaque Fourie, Gio Aplon, Bryan Habana, Alistair Hargreaves, Butch James, Ricky Januarie, Ryan Kankowski, Zane Kirchner, Francois Louw, Victor Matfield, Wynand Olivier, Ruan Pienaar, Dewald Potgieter, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Danie Rossouw, John Smit (c), Pierre Spies, Gurthro Steenkamp, MornZ Steyn, Flip van der Merwe.
