Ten players leave as squad size is cut to 32

Brive have paid the price for missing out on next season's Heineken Cup by being forced to trim their squad. Budgetary constraints mean Brive have axed 10 players in a bid to reduce the size of their squad to 32. Andy Goode (Worcester), Riki Flutey (Wasps), Horacio Agulla (Leicester), Scott Zimmermann (Racing Métro) and Arnaud Pic (Oyonnax) are among those to have left with the club's playing budget set to drop by 15-20 per cent due to the loss of Heineken Cup crowds. Brive had spent big ahead of last season, but the signings failed to deliver success as the side ended up finishing ninth in the Top 14. The club have added to their ranks, although the signings are far more low-key - with Pablo Cardinali (Bourgoin), Régis Lespinas and Matthieu Bélie (Montauban), Julien Ledévédec (Toulouse) and Julien Caminati (Nice) agreeing to move in the summer.
