Northampton full-back wants to set the record straight

Northampton full-back Ben Foden believes his side's defeat to Saracens in the regular season will act as a "wake up call" ahead of the play-offs. The Saints saw their long unbeaten record at Franklin's Garden brought to an end when they lost 28-27 to their rivals in the penultimate game of the campaign. Northampton responded to that defeat, though, with victory over London Irish to ensure home advantage over Saracens in the play-off semi-finals. And England international Foden is confident his side can go on and set the record straight on Sunday. "Hopefully the defeat to Saracens will act as a wake up call for us," he told skysports.com.

Belief

"We lost our first game at home and it goes to show we are not invincible if we don't put in the performances. "There is a belief in the club that we are a good side and one of the best in Britain, so we feel we can go on to win the Premiership. "The great thing about that game (Saracens) is that it can all be righted in the semi-final and we know we have something to prove. "Hopefully the defeat was the kick up the backside we needed and act as a wake up call to make us raise our performances. "Sarries are a good side, playing good rugby and going in the right direction but if we can get a result, then who knows what could happen!"
