Northampton and Saracens reach 'amicable agreement'

Northampton have reached an agreement with Saracens to retain Tongan prop Soane Tonga'uiha. Saracens and Saints had been involved in a bitter war of words after Tonga'uiha went back on an agreement to sign a five-year deal with the Vicarage Road club to stay at Franklin's Gardens. Saracens had reported Northampton to Premier Rugby, with the umbrella organisation for England's 12 top-flight clubs agreeing to set up a panel to rule on the dispute. However the panel has now been disbanded after the two sides reached a settlement between themselves over the future of the powerhouse prop. The 28-year-old, who was man of the match in the LV= Cup triumph over Gloucester, will now take up his three-year contract with Northampton. A PRL statement read: "Following the agreement signed between Soane Tonga'uiha and Saracens in January and the player's subsequent request to remain at Northampton, the two clubs are delighted to announce they have reached an amicable agreement which allows the player to remain at Northampton."
