Blues winger handed two-week suspension

Cardiff Blues winger Tom James has been banned for two weeks for headbutting Gloucester hooker Olivier Azam. James was shown the red card by Irish referee Alan Lewis following his clash with Azam in the 27th minute of the Heineken Cup pool match. Despite playing the majority of the match with 14 men, Cardiff recorded a 16-12 victory to claim a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament. However, Wales international James will miss the final pool game against Calvisano after being suspended by an independent disciplinary committee. The panel ruled that the office was at the low-end level of seriousness for a strike with the head and suspended him until February 1.
