Wycliff Palu is to be sent home from Australia's tour of Europe for treatment on his shoulder injury.

Number eight to be sent home early

Wycliff Palu is to be sent home from Australia's tour of Europe for treatment on his shoulder injury. The number eight has been battling the problem, which has affected cartilage and ligaments and forced him off the field during last Saturday's 18-13 victory over France. Palu was not named by coach Robbie Deans for the Wallabies' Test against Wales in Cardiff on Saturday and will also miss next weekend's match against the Barbarians. "His shoulder hasn't responded to treatment over the last two days and it became clear that he wouldn't be available for either the Test against Wales or the tour-ending game against the Barbarians," Deans said. "That being the case, the best thing for Cliff was to head home early to seek further treatment." Palu will undergo further scans once he returns to Sydney. He is due to arrive home on Friday. Australia have a 100 percent record on their current tour, having beaten Italy and England as well as France. After their meeting with Wales at the Millennium Stadium, the tour concludes with a non-cap international against the Barbarians at Wembley Stadium next Wednesday.
