Star centre fit to lead his country Down Under

Brian O'Driscoll will captain Ireland on their tour of Australia and New Zealand after he confirmed his availability to the country's management team. The 29-year-old outside centre withdrew from the Ireland side which beat the Barbarians 39-14 on Tuesday night after the death of a close friend. But an IRFU statement confirmed that he will fly to the southern hemisphere in the next 48 hours and will join up with the rest of the squad before the first Test against New Zealand on June 7 in Wellington. Stand-in skipper Shane Horgan led the Irish out against the Baa-Baa's at Kingsholm, however the Leinster man will now take over the reigns as he prepares to win his 80th cap against the Black Caps.
