France coach may alter starting line-up for Ireland visit

Marc Lievremont is threatening to make changes to his France starting XV for Saturday's clash against Ireland, despite his sides convincing win over Scotland at the weekend. An inexperienced Les Bleus began the defence of their RBS Six Nations Championship crown with a comprehensive 27-6 win at Murrayfield. Lievremont has announced the same 22 for this weekend's clash, but revealed there may be one or two chances in the starting line-up. "It is possible we could change things," he said. "We are not ruling out dropping a player who has shone so that we can see someone else.

Analysis

"We have in place a double objective - to develop a squad and our game, and to win matches." A statement released by France on Monday stated that they were delaying naming their team until Wednesday morning while selectors wished to "take a step back following the match against Scotland and analyse the video in detail". The fitness of scrum-half Jean-Baptiste Elissalde and No.8 Elvis Vermeulen will be monitored as Lievremont and his coaching staff utilizes their extra day. Despite injuring his ankle early on, Elissalde played for over an hour before being replaced by debutant Morgan Parra. Vermeulen has a problem with his thorax but both players are expected to be fit to face Ireland.
