France prop returns to training after eight-month absence.

French champions Stade Francais have been boosted by the return of Sylvain Marconnet to training, after he spent eight months out with injury. The France international prop fractured his leg while skiing in March, and he was forced to miss out on the World Cup on home soil as a result. The 31-year-old took part in training on Monday, and is closing in on a return to action with Stade. "I didn't feel any pain," he told club website www.stade.fr. Marconnet was looking to return to the France set-up for the World Cup, and he was included in an initial 30-man squad for the hosts. However, in trying to get back to play for Les Bleus, he then aggravated an ankle injury which forced him out of the tournament. Marconnet hopes to be back in the Stade Francais before Christmas to help his side in both their French title and Heineken Cup bids. The prop should also now be available for France for the RBS 6 Nations Championship, which begins starts in February.
