1964: Born April 3, Taunton.
1986: Educated at Richard Huish School, Taunton, and Loughborough University. Joins Bath after captaining Loughborough to the UAU title at Twickenham.
1988: June - Wins first England cap in 28-8 defeat to Australia in Sydney.
1989: Scores only Test try as England beat France 11-0. Voted European player of the year.
May - Selected for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia, but misses out on Tests.
1991: Overlooked for England's World Cup squad.
1992: Leads Bath to a league and cup double in first season as captain.
1995: After missing World Cup squad again, recalled aged 31, after an absence of six years and eight months, and wins eighth and final cap in loss to world champions South Africa.
1997: Appointed Bath coach after Brian Ashton resigns. Clive Woodward is installed as backs coach.
1998: January - Bath become England's first European champions, beating defending champions Brive in Heineken Cup final in Bordeaux.
2000: Bath finish as Premiership runners-up, but miss out on silverware and Robinson departs to link up with England as assistant to Woodward.
2001: Assists Graham Henry as British and Irish Lions lose Test series against Australia 2-1.
2003: Plays a crucial, often overlooked, role in guiding England to glory at the World Cup. Receives OBE for services to rugby.

2004: September - Appointed England's acting head coach following the resignation of Woodward.
October 15 - Confirmed as new England head coach on contract until June 2008.
November - England beat Canada and Tri-Nations champions South Africa before losing to Australia in Robinson's third match in charge.
2005: March - England end Six Nations campaign with Twickenham victories over Italy and Scotland, but it cannot mask three losses.
May - Assists Woodward on Lions tour to New Zealand. Test series is lost 3-0.
2006: March - Wins over Wales and Italy are followed by defeats to Scotland, France and Ireland.
April - Survives an England coaching cull as Phil Larder, Dave Alred and Joe Lydon depart.
June - England lose to Australia in Sydney and Melbourne.
November 29 - Robinson departs as head coach, 72 hours after England suffer their eighth defeat in nine matches, which included a record run of seven successive losses and a first ever Twickenham defeat to Argentina.
2007: October 1 - Appointed head coach of Edinburgh.
2008: April 21 - Named assistant to Scotland head coach Frank Hadden for the summer tour of Argentina.
May 10 - Leads Edinburgh to highest Magners League finish of fourth.

2009: April 21 - Confirms he has applied for the Scotland job. He is later appointed head coach for Scotland A's IRB Nations Cup campaign in Romania.
May 17 - Edinburgh secure second place in the Magners League, their best finish.
June 4 - Appointed head coach of Scotland.
November - Leads Scotland to a 23-10 defeat of Fiji in first match in charge before a memorable 9-8 defeat of Australia, the first win over the Wallabies in 27 years, before loss to Argentina.
2010: March - Scotland avoid wooden spoon with dramatic 23-20 win in Ireland after draw with England and three losses.
June - Guides Scotland to a first southern hemisphere series success, beating Argentina 2-0.
November - After heavy loss to New Zealand, Scotland defeat world champions South Africa 21-17 and Samoa.
2011: February 9 - Agrees extension to contract with the Scottish Rugby Union, signing until after the 2015 World Cup.
March - A 21-8 defeat of Italy sees Scotland finish fifth in the Six Nations.
October - Last-gasp tries earn Argentina and England wins as Scotland are eliminated from the group stages of a World Cup for the first time.
2012: March - Scotland lose the wooden spoon decider to Italy in Rome to leave Robinson with a record of two wins in 15 Six Nations matches in charge. It was Scotland's seventh successive defeat - the worst sequence of results since 1998.
November - June wins in Australia, Fiji and Samoa are swiftly forgotten as New Zealand, South Africa and Tonga win and Scotland tumbled to 12th in the IRB world rankings.
November 25 - Steps down as Scotland coach.
2013: February - Appointed coach by Aviva Premiership side Bristol.
