Captain Kelly Brown returns to the Scotland line-up for Saturday's clash with Australia at Murrayfield.

His recall is one of four changes to the pack which started the disappointing 28-0 defeat to South Africa last weekend.

Brown, Glasgow pair Ryan Grant and Tim Swinson and Montpellier's Johnnie Beattie all return for the final autumn international.

Alasdair Dickinson, Richie Gray, Alasdair Strokosch and John Barclay drop out.

Scotland coach Scott Johnson has named his pack, but not his backline as he waits for news on injuries.

"A six day turn-around from one Test match to another is always a challenge and it's one we'll face in our opening two games of the 2014 Six Nations Championship too."
Scott Johnson

Johnson has selected 11 backs for the matchday squad but will not name the starting seven until later in the week. Winger Tommy Seymour is provisionally included but a leg injury may yet rule him out.

The match is a landmark for lock Jim Hamilton who will become the 35th Scot to win 50 or more caps for his country.

Johnson said: "A six day turn-around from one Test match to another is always a challenge and it's one we'll face in our opening two games of the 2014 Six Nations Championship too.

"Tommy Seymour took a bang on the leg against South Africa at the weekend so we're looking to give him every opportunity to prove his fitness. We'll finalise our starting back division and bench once we have an update there.

"We're clear in what we're trying to do at the moment which is look at different combinations with a view to intensifying the competition for places in the team. That mantra doesn't change, so we adhere to the plan, while dealing with injuries and while always being true to the jersey.

"Australia played some quality rugby against Ireland last weekend and we're very much looking forward to renewing rivalry with them on Saturday."

Backs (from): Maitland, Evans, Seymour, Bennett, De Luca, Taylor, S Lamont, Jackson, Weir, Cusiter, Laidlaw

Forwards: Grant, Ford, Low, Swinson, Hamilton, Beattie, Brown, Denton

Replacements: MacArthur, Dickinson, Murray, Gilchrist, K Low (others to be confirmed)
