In depth

Verdict

First Buddy, Punta Galera and Moheebb all look to have solid claims in this handicap and we will nominate First Buddy as the pick. The selection returns to the level after a spin over hurdles last time at Aintree. He showed progressive form last season and with the ground in his favour and Alan Swinbank's yard in good form he is tipped to go close. Punta Galera is fit from a winter campaign on the all-weather and he looks to be on a handy mark at present. He won well at Kempton last time but he is at his best on fast ground and that does temper our confidence here. Moheebb was a fair third behind Inspirina last time but she just failed to get home that day, so she may be seen to better effect over this slightly shorter trip. Royal Flynn is a course and distance winner but he is at his best on really testing ground, so we will stick with First Buddy as the pick.
