In depth

Verdict

Major Magpie is a course and distance winner and he can score again here at the main expense of Charlie Tipple and Goodbye. Michael Dods's 6-year-old has a decent draw here and he should be spot-on for this after a pipe-opener at Pontefract last time. He is a nice horse and with ground conditions also in his favour he should run a big race. Charlie Tipple is another who should arrive here fit after a recent run, but the worry is that he has never won over this trip and for that reason we will take him on. Goodbye was a beaten favourite at Newmarket last time but she had been in good form prior to that and she will go on the ground. She has a fair draw and she can go well. Fever and Provost have run with promise in the past, but both look high enough in the weights at present and for the winner we will stick with Major Magpie.
