Pirates dent Scunthorpe's promotion dreams

Scunthorpe's promotion hopes were rocked by a Bristol Rovers side who claimed only their third away win of the season - a 2-0 victory at Glanford Park. The visitors, missing leading goalscorer Rickie Lambert through injury, struck twice in 10 first-half minutes to take control. Darryl Duffy opened the scoring after 21 minutes when he drilled a low shot into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Joe Murphy. His strike partner Jo Kuffour made it 2-0 in the 31st minute when he waltzed unchallenged into the box to steer an angled shot through the legs of Murphy. At the start of the second half Scunthorpe introduced loan signing Henri Lansbury from Arsenal for his debut. They should have been back in the game in the 54th minute but striker Paul Hayes fired his penalty straight at goalkeeper Steve Phillips after a handling offence by defender Craig Hinton.
