Rennes and Bordeaux shared the points as they played out a 1-1 draw in Ligue 1 on Saturday night. Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik gave the hosts the lead with a header after 61 minutes but Bordeaux were level just two minutes later through Cheick Diabate, who fired home straight from the restart. The result leaves both clubs in mid-table. In an even first half with few clear-cut chances, Rennes were first to show as an attacking outfit. Bordeaux defender Lucas Orban's poor clearance fell to Nelson Oliveira, who in turn freed Adrien Hunou but he only shot straight at the goalkeeper Cedric Carrrasso. Les Girondins then came within inches of taking the lead when Henri Saivet fired a right-footed shot narrowly over the bar. Carrasso then came to his side's rescue when he blocked Oliveira's left-footed volley. Rennes were creating more and they came close again four minutes after half-time through Oliveira once more when he headed inches over the bar. However, they were indebted to Benoit Costil minutes later when he managed to make an instinctive save from Diabate, who had only the keeper to beat. Costil came to the fore again when he went down to save from Ludovic Sane's header following Ludovic Obraniak's corner. Rennes then went ahead. Kadir's corner from the left prompted a goalmouth scramble and Kana-Biyik leapt highest to head the ball into the net. However, they could enjoy that lead for just two minutes before the visitors restored parity. Landry N'Guemo gave the ball to Diabate, who raced towards goal, controlling the ball and darting between two defenders before firing a low left-footed shot which beat Costil.
