Veteran forward passes 200-goal mark

Veteran striker Dean Windass reached a double century of league goals to give Oldham a well-deserved 2-1 victory against Northampton. The 39-year-old, on loan from Hull, crashed in an unstoppable second-half header - and was booked for revealing a T-shirt emblazoned with '200'. Oldham were on top for most of the game and grabbed an early lead when defender Reuben Hazell headed home a right-wing corner from Kevin Maher. Northampton's Mark Hughes cleared off the line from Deane Smalley while visiting goalkeeper Chris Dunn made a brilliant save to deny Neal Eardley. Windass had already seen a diving header scrambled off the line when he met another Maher set-piece and brought up his latest landmark. Northampton pulled one back within seven minutes, with top scorer Adebayo Akinfenwa nodding home Andy Holt's cross. Oldham's nerves began to fray but they ended strongly and were only denied a third goal when Lee Hughes hit the post.
