January Transfer Window opens: Follow it with Sky Sports

The January transfer window opens in England on January 3 and Sky Sports will bring you all the news as clubs look to strengthen their squad for the final four months of the season.

The opening of this year’s window has been delayed to the third day of the month, so it fits in with FIFA’s regulations of the window being open for 31 days.

The reason for the delay in ending the window is that January 31 is a Saturday when a full Premier League fixture list is due to be played and, as Sunday is not declared as a business day, the window will close at 11pm on Monday February 2.

Northern Ireland is actually one of the few places where it opens on New Year's Day, while La Liga’s transfer window opens a day earlier than the Premier League.

The timescale differentiates throughout Europe, with Italy and Holland opening their window on Monday January 5. However, France's Ligue 1 and Germany's Bundesliga share the same dates as England.

Meanwhile, Russian clubs won’t be able to start doing business until January 28.

As always, we here at Sky Sports will be working night and day to bring you best coverage of the window. Premier League clubs spent a record £842m in the summer transfer window and this winter we’ll be across every rumour, every medical and every deal completed.
