Striker set for Cardiff pending a medical and personal terms

Cardiff have agreed a fee with West Ham for the transfer of forward Nicky Maynard. The 25-year-old only joined the Hammers in January and assistant boss Neil McDonald claimed the player was an 'important member of the squad' after he scored against Crewe in midweek. But Sky Sports reported on Thursday morning that the former Bristol City man had emerged as a target for Cardiff as he is down the pecking order at Upton Park. And the Bluebirds have successfully negotiated a deal with the Premier League side and Maynard could complete a switch back to the Championship if he can agree terms and pass a medical. Maynard scored three goals in 16 games for West Ham with the most memorable effort coming against Cardiff in the second leg of their play-off semi-final.
