Alexandre Lacazette and Bafetimbi Gomis were on target as Lyon claimed a 2-1 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes at Stade de la Beaujoire. Filip Djordjevic pulled one back for the home side after 83 minutes, but he was sent off with five minutes of the match remaining after picking up his second yellow card. Only a point separated the two sides before the match. The win moves Remi Garde's visitors up one place into sixth, while Nantes remain ninth after failing to win for a fifth straight game. Michel Der Zakarian's men started well but failed to capitalise on their early chances, the first falling to Birama Toure, who was released by Serge Gakpe in the Lyon penalty box, only to fire the ball inches wide. Then midway through the first half, Djordjevic found Gakpe, who had enjoyed an active opening half so far, just outside the 18-yard box, but his right-footed volley sailed wide of the post. Five minutes before the break - and with their first real chance of note - Lyon took the lead. Clement Grenier took the ball down the right wing and crossed it in as Gomis deflected it toward Lacazette in front of the goal and the France striker made no mistake as he tapped the ball home from point-blank range for his 13th goal of the season. The home side could have netted an equaliser eight minutes after the break from Jordan Veretout's 35-yard free-kick, but the Lyon goalkeeper managed to slap the ball away Les Gones began to dominate and Gomis had a couple of chances to double his side's lead midway through the second half and his patience paid off as he scored a penalty for Lyon after goalkeeper Remy Riou brought down Lacazette. Gomis made no mistake as his powerful shot to the left beat the diving Riou, who chose correctly but could not stop the ball with the strength the penalty was taken. Nantes reduced the deficit minutes later as Toure delivered a superb ball toward Djordjevic, who beat Samuel Umtiti with a volley to slot home. But the home side were reduced to 10 men two minutes later as Djordjevic faked hitting the referee with the ball after he was booked a minute earlier, resulting in a second yellow card and his dismissal.
