Reims created the better chances but they could only manage to play out a goalless draw with Montpellier in Ligue 1. Nicolas de Preville fired inches over the bar with just two minutes remaining for Reims who move up to fifth as a result of the draw while Montpellier are still searching for their second win of the season and drop to 13th. Reims have now won two and drawn two of their past four matches after losing their opening match of the season and it was them who made the early running. Gaetan Charbonnier's cross found Odair Fortes on the right and the Cape Verde striker dribbled past two defenders before shooting from close-range calling on Geoffrey Jourdren to block the effort. Reims were on the attack again. Mads Albaek's corner from the left was not well cleared and the ball fell to Gaetan Courtet whose header beat Jourdren all ends up but also went inches wide. It took until the 36th minute for Montpellier to show as an attacking force when Benjamin Stambouli's 25-yard snapshot was blocked by goalkeeper Kossi Agassa. Two minutes later, Siaka Tiene was freed by Souleymane Camara and his fierce shot was thwarted by Agassa. It was Reims though who dominated the second half. Aissa Mandi's low, fierce shot forced Joudren down to make the save before Albaek curled an effort from the edge of the area which went inches wide. However, Montpellier came close to a goal four minutes from full-time when Emanuel Herrera's low drive went just wide. In the final action of the game, De Preville's 20-yard shot which went just over almost won it for Reims but both had to settle for a goalless draw.
