Hamburg battled back from a goal down to register a 3-1 victory at home to struggling Hannover. Szabolcs Huszti gave Hannover the lead after 28 minutes but Milan Badelj equalised three minutes later and Maximilian Beister fired Hamburg ahead in the 46th minute. Hakan Calhanoglu finished off Hannover with a third in the 84th minute before the visitors lost Salif Sane to a second yellow card in the 90th minute. Hamburg had the first opening in the 14th minute but Pierre-Michel Lasogga's shot was kept at bay by Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler. Zieler's opposite numver Rene Adler's was called into action six minutes later, fending away Mame Biram Diouf's header from 12 yards after a cross from Huszti. Hannover grabbed the lead in the 28th minute after Adler's poor pass to Tomas Rincon, who was surrounded straight away by three Hannover players. Huszti stole the ball, raced forward and then converted into the corner to make it 1-0. Hamburg equalised five minutes later thanks to a fine shot by Badelj, who struck a looping volley from 25 yards after Zieler had punched away Calhanoglu's free-kick. Hamburg took the lead a minute after the re-start with Badelj passing forward to Heiko Westermann, who crossed into the middle where Beister headed past Zieler. The hosts nearly made it 3-1 after 48 minutes but Lasogga's shot went just inches wide. The game lacked intensity in the second half until Beister fed Calhanoglu, who then beat Zieler to make it 3-1 in the 84th minute. Hannover saw Sane get sent to the showers early with a second yellow card in the 90th minute.
