Colchester v MK Dons preview

Image: George Porter: Suspended for U's

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Colchester and MK Dons at Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester have received several selection boosts but George Porter will miss the game as he starts a three-match suspension. Midfielder Porter saw red after just four minutes of last weekend's crunch clash at Bury but the relegation-threatened U's rallied from then going a goal behind to triumph 2-1 at Gigg Lane and claim three crucial points. Jabo Ibehre has now completed a three-match ban and returns to contention while fellow influential striker Freddie Sears stands a chance of recovering from the knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines of late. Right-back Brian Wilson missed the clash at Bury due to illness but is expected to return while the likes of Billy Clifford, Sam Walker, Magnus Okuonghae - each of whom played despite themselves struggling with the virus - have also regained full health. Defender Tom Eastman is again likely to miss out due to injury. Antony Kay's suspension has added to MK Dons' problems. Kay was criticised by manager Karl Robinson after two yellow cards in the space of five minutes late on in the midweek defeat to Crewe resulted in the centre-back's third dismissal of the season. He will now serve a three-match ban. The absence of captain Dean Lewington (knee), wingers Luke Chadwick (hip) and Daniel Powell (hamstring) and goalkeeper David Martin (back) at Gresty Road meant Robinson could name only four substitutes against Alex. Lewington and Chadwick will remain out while Powell and Martin are doubts along with strikers Dean Bowditch and Ryan Lowe, who are battling to be fit after sustaining injuries on Tuesday night. Youth-teamers Dele Alli and Giorgio Rasulo have previously helped make up the numbers for the Dons this season but they are away on international duty with England Under-17s and Under-16s respectively. Therefore, Robinson may be forced to call on other academy players, such as Brendan Galloway, to bolster his threadbare squad.
