Lilywhites close to making managerial appointment

Preston have agreed a compensation package with League One rivals Stevenage for their manager Graham Westley. The Lilywhites parted company with former boss Phil Brown in mid-December and have been keen to ensure that they get their next appointment right. Westley was quickly identified as a leading candidate for the role, but it was always going to take time to bring him on board. Stevenage, understandably, are reluctant to part with a man who has taken them from the non-league ranks and into the upper reaches of the third tier table. Preston are, however, closing on a deal and are hoping to have Westley in place by the time they play host to Wycombe on Saturday. "Preston North End FC can confirm they have come to an agreement with Stevenage FC on a compensation package for manager Graham Westley and his assistants John Dreyer and Dino Maamira," read a statement released on the club's official website. "Preston North End will now aim to conclude discussions with the management trio later on today (Friday)."
