Thomas Sorensen has urged Stoke to get back to 'basic defending' in a bid to end the club's four-match losing run in the Premier League.

Keeper pleased to be back in Stoke team despite QPR defeat

Thomas Sorensen has urged Stoke City to get back to 'basic defending' in a bid to end the club's four-match losing run in the Premier League. The experienced goalkeeper was recalled to the team for Saturday's game at home to Queens Park Rangers, but was unable to prevent a 3-2 defeat. Stoke have now conceded 14 goals in their last four league games to sit 14th in the table, with Tony Pulis' side seemingly struggling to combine domestic and Europa League commitments. Sorensen was pleased to make his first Premier League appearance of the season against QPR, but has warned the Potters about the dangers of becoming complacent.

Frustrating

"It was frustrating to come back in and not really be able to affect the game," Sorensen told Sky Sports News. "We conceded three goals and I couldn't do anything about it. "I was happy to have played, but frustrated to have conceded three goals. "You always have to stick to what you're good at and do things properly and not start to get a bit complacent. "We had a good start to the season, but now we are in a sticky patch. It's basic defending that we need to do right, like know where your man is in the penalty area."
