Millwall boss Ian Holloway has paid tribute to the professionalism of Byron Webster following the defender's tough start to life at The Den.

Webster endured a nightmare debut at Reading last month when he was substituted just 20 minutes into Millwall's 3-2 defeat.

But the 27-year-old is back in favour having started the last three matches and helped the Lions keep back-to-back clean sheets on the road.

"I brought him off after 15 or 20 minutes at Reading and he didn't fall out with me," said Holloway.

"He understood that tactically I needed to bring Carlos (Edwards) back. He has waited his time and kept a good attitude about himself, and has put everything into training just like a good pro should do.

"He is reaping the rewards now because it's going to be a long and hard season. You have to wait for your chance and take it when you do play.

"I've got Danny Shittu, who every time I see him more or less is saying 'I'm ready', and he's keeping him out at the moment. There's Mark Beevers there as well.

"The great thing for me is that if I need to make some changes they understand that."
