Sky Bet Championship: Millwall boss Ian Holloway satisfied with display in 0-0 draw at Wigan

Ian Holloway felt his Millwall side were good value for their 0-0 Sky Bet Championship draw at fellow strugglers Wigan.

The visitors spent much of the night on the back foot and had to soak up the lion's share of pressure from a Wigan side without a win in seven matches.

David Forde had to be called on to make a fine save from Shaun Maloney's first-half strike, while substitute Callum McManaman hit the top of the bar after the break.

But Millwall were always a threat on the break and they could have nicked it in the second half, only for Ricardo Fuller's touch to let him down with only Scott Carson to beat.

"There was a lot of jousting, not much happened, but I thought it was quite a good game considering the conditions," Holloway said.

"A couple of things could have gone wrong for us, like they have in recent weeks, but I was delighted all things considered.

"We looked calm, we looked composed, and we looked a decent side.

"I didn't want to just come here and waste time and get a point - I wanted to win.

"We did everything but get the goal, but their manager will probably come in and say the same thing."

The result leaves both Millwall and Wigan in trouble at the bottom of the table, but Holloway is not pressing the panic button.

He added: "It's only a point, we're both still towards the bottom of the table, and it doesn't feel good.

"But both ourselves and Wigan are capable of winning our next game, and we wouldn't be that far off where we want to be.

"Two wins in a row in this league - like we did earlier in the season - puts you on a decent run."

Counterpart Uwe Rosler reckoned Wigan did "everything right", but again bemoaned their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

Despite drafting in a second striker in Marc-Antoine Fortune, Rosler saw his side fail to score for the third home game in a row.

"I am frustrated with the result, obviously, but I thought we did everything right apart from the last 20 metres," the Wigan boss said.

"Millwall have had some decent results on the road this season but we restricted them to just one chance, when we lost a man at a free-kick.

"Apart from that we did everything right, which is the positive thing.

"The players were absolutely spot on in the way we wanted to address the game, right from the start.

"We wanted to add another striker to help Oriol Riera, to take a little bit of the physical pressure on him, and that worked quite well.

"We got into good areas and we put the ball into the box. But our movement in the box still isn't good enough."

Rosler was delighted with the performance of loan signing Maynor Figueroa, who secured a one-month loan move from Hull just before kick-off.

"Andrew Taylor had been struggling with his calf, and with the amount of games coming up it was a good decision to get Maynor in for a month," Rosler said.

"Maynor was so solid - you could see with his positional play that he was so solid.

"On the ball he was decent. He didn't know the movement of our players but he hardly ever gave the ball away.

"When he gets a few games under his belt he can contribute even more, going forward as well as defending.

"It was perfect with Roger Espinoza also coming back in, both Hondurans had a positive impact with the crowd."
